Phytoplankton
Phytoplankton is a single-celled organism that offers trace minerals, chlorophyll, essential amino acids, EPA, fatty acids, protein, carotenoids, amino acids and other nutrients. Superoxide dismutase (SOD) within the cell of phytoplankton has been referred to as the “king of antioxidants.” SOD is the first essential enzyme in the antioxidant pathway, which makes it the first shield against oxidative stress. With its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, phytoplankton combats oxidative stress and protects tissues from damage.

Chaga Mushrooms
Known as the "King of Medicinal Mushrooms," chaga is the second most antioxidant-rich food in the world next to cocoa. A nutrient-dense superfood, it features many valuable properties, including antioxidants, superoxide dismutase, polyphenols, triterpenes, phytosterols, and beta-D-glucans. Chaga has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries, and today, doctors, alternative medicine advocates, and researchers are increasingly interested in its many health benefits.

Spirulina
Spirulina is a type of algae that grows in fresh or salt water. It is rich in nutrients, including protein, vitamins, and minerals, and has antioxidant properties. It also contains vital essential amino acids. The antioxidant in spirulina, phycocyanin, can help fight oxidative stress by blocking the production of molecules that promote inflammation and providing impressive antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
Product Usage Directions
Can be given during or after mealtime once (1) per day according to your pet’s weight. Administer orally. This product can be mixed with food. Store in a cool, dry place. Stir well before serving.

Q : Can Vital Defense be used long-term?
A : Yes. For geriatric animals or those with health concerns, it can be used long-term, or rotated with other products. For young/healthy dogs, we recommend rotating it 1 month, 3 times a year, to help proactively maintain overall cell health.
Q : Who benefits most?
A : All animals! All animals are challenged by oxidative stress, which can do major damage to the body. For young and/or healthy animals, Vital Defense can help protect healthy cells from damage in the future. For older animals, or animals with chronic disease, it can help provide the support they need for cellular regeneration and growth and repair.
Q : If my pet is allergic to fish/shellfish, can they still use this product?
A : Yes! While it feeds the ocean, phytoplankton isn't actually a fish, it's a cell. If your animal can’t have fish, phytoplankton is a great way to provide vital nutrients to the whole body!
Q : How are these ingredients sourced?
A : Proper sourcing is crucial for us. All of our ingredients are meticulously sourced. We focus on practices that are ethical and sustainable and don’t harm the environment in any way. We want clean, organic, non-GMO, etc. - our list of wants when it comes to ingredients is long!
Our Chaga is sustainably grown in North American forests and ethically harvested to ensure the continued health of the trees upon which they grow. We follow age-old traditions that allow for safe and sustainable harvesting.
Phytoplankton is the number one food source of the oceans. It’s what the animals of the sea eat to get the most nutrition and antioxidant value. Saying that, the phytoplankton we use is grown on land and is completely sustainable. It does not take any food from the ocean. Additionally, it is grown in ocean water that is filtered to remove any heavy metals, making it as clean as it can possibly be. And, that water is put back into the ocean afterwards so we’re giving back to the ocean as well.
Our spirulina is grown in carefully monitored production ponds using clean, fresh water. For our supplier, sustainability is a prime focus, with continual monitoring of best practices. They work to reduce their carbon footprint by using renewable energy, maximizing recycling, and minimizing waste to ensure that everything they do gives back to the environment.
Q: Can puppies and kittens take this?
A : We recommend waiting until they are 6 months old. If a young puppy is being challenged by ongoing health issues, they can start younger, but always consult with your veterinarian.
Q : How do animals use it?
A : Vital Defense is easily added to food. Use it 3 times a year, as the seasons change, for proactive protection, or daily for geriatric animals or those whose health is compromised.
If there is some kind of environmental concern in your area, like flooding or a forest fire, use this to proactively fight free radicals (which lead to oxidative stress). Use it in stressful situations such as moving, or before your animal enters a new environment, like boarding or daycare, to fight free radical damage associated with stress.
Q : Can I just use regular Chaga and Phytoplankton?
A : On their own, Chaga and phytoplankton are amazing, and together they’re going to deliver amazing value. For this product, though, we carefully reviewed the different ratios used in our cell-based studies and chose the specific ratios that had the highest efficacy and most benefits. Based on this, we believe these proprietary ratios will deliver the most powerful synergistic effects.
Q : Is this recommended for pets with kidney issues?
A : Chaga has one of the highest natural amounts of oxalates. Some Chaga measures as high as 100mg/g. In contrast, our powders have been tested at Dalhousie University and ranked very low overall for their oxalate content (between 6-12mg/g of Chaga).
To put that into context, a 25kg (55lb) dog would receive approximately 12-13mg of oxalates from a daily dose of Vital Defense.
That being said, most experts recommend avoiding foods/supplements with high oxalates. If your pet has oxalate crystals or stones or has kidney disease, we recommend speaking with your veterinarian first or use our turkey tail and phytoplankton instead.
Q : Can I use this if my animal is on a chemotherapy drug?
A : Chaga can stimulate the white blood cells, so if an animal is on a particular chemotherapy drug intended to suppress the white blood cells, it may be contraindicated.
Instead, we recommend turkey tail mushrooms because it is well researched to be safe during chemotherapy. You can also add phytoplankton.

Singapore Orders
- Non-frozen items could enjoy FREE delivery with orders $38 and above.
- Non-frozen items are delivered by third-party courier partners within 3 working days.
- Third-party courier partners may or may not attempt to reach you at the contact number that you've submitted upon delivery.
- If no one is present or uncontactable for further instructions, your package will be left at the riser, door, gate, security, or a location determined appropriate by the courier.
- If other arrangements are preferred and necessary, please leave us a remark or contact us right after you have placed your order.
- For orders above $150, we will be using reasonably reliable couriers (in line with our duty under the Singapore Sale of Goods Act) that allow high-value compensation in the event of parcel loss.
- For orders above $150, should there be theft suspected in your area, based on the courier that we will be partnering with, we may require you to make a police report for submission for a claim.
- Alternatively, you may also opt for Self Collection.
- Self-collection is applicable for all non-frozen items.

FROZEN ITEMS SHIPPING POLICY
Singapore Orders only
- This delivery option is not limited to just frozen items; however, if there are frozen items in the same order, it will be processed based on frozen item delivery.
- Frozen items could enjoy FREE scheduled delivery with orders $100 and above.
- Frozen items are delivered by third-party courier partners.
- Orders cut-off time applicable for FREE scheduled delivery is 5pm previous day.
- Orders made by 5pm will be delivered on your selected date and time slots.
- We highly recommend that you choose a date and time slot where you can be present to receive the parcel within the time frame.
- Should you have difficulties being present, we can arrange for the driver to hang at your gate, however, pls note that our packaging can only keep items as frozen as possible for only 3 hours.
- Third-party courier partners may or may not attempt to reach you at the contact number that you've submitted upon delivery.
- If no one is present or uncontactable for further instructions, and no other arrangements have been made prior, your package WILL BE RETURNED, and an additional $20 will be charged for the re-arrangement of the 2nd delivery.
- If other arrangements are preferred and necessary, please leave us a remark or contact us right after you have placed your order.
- Alternatively, you may also opt for Self Collection.
- Self-collection is applicable for all frozen items.

Return and Refund Policy

Generally, all our products are strictly non-refundable or exchangeable.
However, in the event you received an incorrect or defective item, or any other valid reason that you can't enjoy your purchase, we will provide a refund or exchange on a case-by-case basis.
All we ask is that when the item is returned, it should meet the following requirements:
- Reach out to us to arrange an appointment to drop off your item at 338 Ang Mo Kio Ave 1 #01-1649, Singapore 560338.
- Item returned should be in its original & sealed packaging. Broken seals will not be accepted, unless there's a valid reason, on a case-by-case basis.
- Please ensure at least 6 months of shelf life if it's a perishable item.
- Send us your order confirmation email for refund verification.
Items not eligible for returns:
- Food-related, wearables, beds, and carriers due to food safety & hygiene reasons.
- Items that are purchased at promotional pricing from all of our sales channels.
- Customers who had a history of returning more than 3 items.
Note : When we receive the refunded/exchanged item, we will review the condition of the item and reach out to you to confirm and issue a refund/exchange within 7 working days. We regret that customers who decline to respect our policy will be ineligible for exchange, returns, and refunds.
Do also note that if we find that a product has been intentionally damaged or tampered with, refunds will not be offered.

Refunds for Loss of Parcel
For loss of parcel, please read our shipping policy above. We are unable to replace, refund, or compensate you if:
- parcels are delivered to the correct address but subsequently lost or stolen, or
- parcels left according to the courier procedure when no instructions were given.
In the event of a lost parcel claim:
- We will contact the courier and assist with the investigation.
- If the claim is deemed eligible, we will seek compensation from the third-party courier partners on your behalf.
- We will then make the refund to you once the compensation from the third-party courier partners is completed.
Note that third-party courier partners may require some time for internal investigation upon receiving our claim.
All refunds will be refunded as credit into your account with JOOF or as Cash Paynow to your mobile given, whichever we deem fit on a case-by-case basis.
